Rolf Stehle of Typotron AG (Printer in St. Gallen) asked Hochuli to be involved with an annual gift, which Typotron wanted to send out to its clients. So he initiated a booklet series about themes/people from the area. He was able to choose the contents, photographers, paper stock, etc and designed the series from 1983 to 1998.  

The first booklet which Jost Hochuli initiated, was to be about his  friend, typographer and publisher Rudolf Hostettler.

’ …  there was no doubt in my mind that the first in the series should be dedicated to my honoured friend, the typographer Rudolf Hostettler. The editor-in-chief of the Swiss magazine Typografische Monatsblatter was not to be forgotten. Somewhere - such was my intention the memory should remain green of the peosonalitywho did so much for Swiss typography and smoothed the path for so many young typographers. ...'
